Pond of the Month: September
A pair of ducks adopted Sue Wehrman's pond this
spring and she shared her photos. They were delightful,
so we asked if she'd be our September Pond of the
Month. Since the ducks arrived, she's done quite a
bit of research and taken some wonderful pictures
of them.

Backyard
Wildlife Habitats
Mary Ann Fink, the enthusiastic speaker we had last
year on Native Plants, is returning to talk about creating
a backyard wildlife habitat - a 'natural' for us since
we already have the water!

A
Night in the Tropics
Beautiful lilies, good friends, rhythmic music, tasty
food and unusual plants - what more could one ask. Perfect
weather? We had that too! The banquet was terrific!

Jewel Box Maintenance
Saturday mornings at 9am, volunteers
weekly remove dead flowers and yellowed or torn leaves
to keep the lily pools in front of the Jewel Box in
Forest Park looking their very best. Brides often use
them as a lovely backdrop for their photos. This week,
we maintained them for our own banquet.

Pond-O-Rama 2008
What a terrific tour! Water features are getting
better every year. We had a good turnout and the weather
was pleasant despite a few brief showers. Photos of
each pond on the 2008 tour are now available from
the Pond-O-Rama web page.
Note that they are listed alphabetically except that
the vertical photos are grouped together at the bottom
of the page.
